![]() The Marvel Legends Venom deluxe figure is now up for order, and will ship out in March 2020. I think the head sculpt still works well enough for this variation of the character, but I don’t think the claws are ideal for Eddie Brock Venom. Sadly, we don’t get a new head or hands, though, which is a bit of a bummer. The Eddie Brock version of Venom has shifted in size and mass numerous times over the years, so the bulky proportions of this figure aren’t an issue at all. What we have here is a Marvel Legends Venom Build-A-Figure variant in the recognizable black and white color scheme, with the paint deco now giving us the iconic symbol for the character and not the outdated “modern” look. Even before the wave hit circulation, a lot of peeps were crying out for a more classic-styled repaint down the road.Īnd lo and behold, in a movie year, Hasbro is delivering with basically exactly what those fans asked for (and nothing more, really)! As you can see in my old review photo above, the original release of this figure was super-cool in its own way–but I think this new version (below) is what more people have in their minds’ eyes when they think of the Lethal Protector… While I thought the oversized figure was actually pretty fun (he got a B+ review from me, and I stand by it), the iridescent purple paint and stylized modern deco on that version of Venom were not for everyone. When the inaugural Marvel Legends Venom Series of figures hit stores about a year and a half (I say inaugural because it’s a virtual lock that another wave will be out later this year), fandom was a little bit divided on the “Monster Venom” BAF that was the carrot collectors got if they bought all six figures in the wave (including that groovy Spider-Ham). ![]() It's like saying antibiotics are unfair to people who died of the plague. Was that unfair to the person who agreed to buy it for 40K? The next year, new models are out and they're trying to sell off the old ones, so you get to buy the same car for 25K. Say someone buys a brand new car right when it comes out for 40K. If it's someone popular like Venom who has his own movie, yeah they'll probably re-release the figure. Or make a calculated decision on if they'll re-release the figure and then wait. If you want a BAF but not all the characters in the wave, buy them, and then sell the figures you don't want. That's the thing about them always changing figures, sometimes you like the changes on the re-release, sometimes you don't.īuy the figures you want, not the ones you don't want. But I didn't like the new Cyclops, I didn't want him in a jacket, so I kept the old one and sold the new one. And he also got re-released in the 3-pack. And then with the new figure, I felt like she got an upgrade so I was happy to have the new one.Ĭyclops I also overpaid for. Because the whole time I had a '90s X-Men team with the proper Jean Grey figure instead of feeling like an essential character was missing. I overpaid for Jean Grey a while ago, and then they recently re-released her in the Love Triangle 3-pack. And you shouldn't look at action figures as an investment, anyway. That may not be worth exactly the price difference, but it is worth something. But I got to have the figure in my collection for a few years instead of feeling like there was a giant Apocalypse sized hole on my X-Men villains shelf. If they release him solo for $30, I spent way more than that. They're doing an "Age of Apocalypse" wave this year, they very well may re-release the figure. I spent a lot of money on the Apocalypse BAF. At least Hasbro never re-releases the exact same figure, they always change it up at least a little. If people will buy it, they'll re-release it. What other line of children's toys (that lasted more than a year) have not re-released figures? You can't expect them not to do it. First off, yes we are adults and we collect these, but these are mass produced children's toys, not limited edition collectibles.
